ECN Vancouver will be hosting an online webinar focused on Mass Timber and Embodied Carbon! This event, originally planned as an in-person event in Vancouver, has been converted to an entirely online experience in light of concerns over the growing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Due to this shift, we can now invite a much larger audience outside of Vancouver to join in this important conversation around Mass Timber and Embodied Carbon!

**NOTE: Register using this new link to join the Zoom online meeting for free on Monday. Do not register on Eventbrite.**

We have a great lineup of industry experts that will present on biogenic carbon, forestry certifications, CLT fabrication, & LCA modelling of mass timber buildings. There will be time for Q&A after each presentation.

Speakers:

  • Geoffrey Guest from the National Research Council Canada will join remotely to speak on "The Climate Conundrums of Biogenic Carbon emissions". Geoff is a Research Officer at NRC and is the founder and technical lead for NRC's Low-Carbon Assets through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA^2) Initiative, which is a major national initiative that will establish a centralized Canadian Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) database and support the development of guidelines, benchmarks, and enhanced tools.

  • Ken Laven from Kalesnikoff will shine some light on the Manufacturing & Fabrication of Mass Timber. He will share about their new advanced fully integrated mass timber production facility opening soon in BC.

  • Eric Wood is a Facade Specialist and Mass Timber Practice Lead at Morrison Hershfield. He will speak about different Forestry Certification systems and how they compare.

  • Lindsay Rasmussen is a Program Manager with Architecture 2030, where she has developed and managed several of Architecture 2030’s education initiatives, most recently the Carbon Smart Materials Palette and the highly successful AIA+2030 Online Series. She will join remotely and speak about a research project she advised by the University of Oregon and Tallwood Design Institute, which focused on Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) and its availability, benefits and barriers, applications, and embodied carbon impacts.

We are very grateful to Wood WORKS! BC for sponsoring this free event!
